Broadcast & Electronic Communication

Shape the Way We View the World

Research, write, produce, direct and market electronic messages for every medium. Learn to apply mass communication theory while developing skills specific to audio, video and the Web. A strong liberal arts emphasis gives you the broad background you need to thrive in an era of convergence and competition.

You have the technology. From your first year, you have access to Marquette’s recently revamped broadcast facility, with two TV studios, nine video editing suites, three audio studios, computer graphics platforms and advanced interactive digital equipment.

Get involved. Our campus radio and TV stations are entirely student-run. Host your own radio show, be a newscaster, produce television shows—or use communication technology in your own original way.

Study in a major market. Direct your studies toward a career in broadcast journalism, production, writing, programming, management, audience research, sales, promotion, or alternative media. Milwaukee is a top-35 market—small enough for you to get your foot in the door, big enough to prepare you for any media market in the country.

Sample internships
Students have worked with radio and television stations in Milwaukee as well as other major markets such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta. And they’ve interned on programs like ABC World News Tonight, Entertainment Tonight, Late Show with David Letterman, All My Children, The Young and the Restless and 20/20.
