Dr. Jim Pokrywczynski, Associate Professor of Strategic Communication, is working hard to bring real-world experience to his students. This year, “Doc Pok” and the students in his Sports Promotion Class are working with Fox Sports University and the USGA to promote the 2017 U.S. Open Championship at Erin Hills next June.
The students in the Sports Promotion class are tasked with the goal of increasing awareness and excitement of the U.S. Open in Wisconsin. They work in teams and present their ideas to Fox Sports and USGA executives, and their ideas may even be utilized during the campaign. The USGA and Fox both recruit interns out of this program, rewarding stand-out Marquette students the opportunity to jump-start their careers and take their participation in the FOX Sports U program to the next level.
As the FOX Sports team prepares for the U.S. Open at Erin Hills in Wisconsin, they are planning to incorporate a number of concepts from the winning team in Doc Pok's class. Check out this video promotion for the full story.
