The Department of Performing Arts kicks off its 2009–2010 season with a tribute to WWII Women Airforce Service Pilots, or WASPs. During WWII, 1,830 young women pilots from all over the United States quit
their jobs, left their home and paid their own way to Texas to learn to fly
“the Army way.” They served because they loved their country. They served
because they loved to fly. "Censored on Final Approach" is based on stories
of women who flew tow target training missions at Camp Davis, North Carolina where the real battle was on the ground.
This play is performed in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration of Women at Marquette University.
