Faculty and Graduate Student Research Symposium

J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication's Annual Faculty Scholarship Symposium on Thursday, April 23rd

The research symposium is a day-long annual celebration and recognition of the ongoing research and creative work conducted in our college. The day features several events, and you are welcome to attend any of the sessions as your schedule allows. All events will be held in Johnston Hall 303.

Schedule: 11:30 am - 1:00 pm Poster Session Featuring Ongoing Projects of Faculty and Graduate Students This is a new event for the college and will feature research and creative work from across the college. Faculty and students will be sharing works in progress, completed research, and plans for future projects. This interactive format will provide opportunity for you to browse the posters and join the conversation about the work being done in communication.  

1:15pm - 2:15pm Workshop: Finding Grant Funding for Scholarship & Creative work in Communication Join the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs and Communication faculty in a workshop that focuses on grant funding for communication and creative work. This session will walk through the steps you need to know to pursue funding for your project.   

2:30 pm - 3:45pm Panel Discussion on Ethics & Communication Research  As social structures and communication activity becomes more complex so too do ethical questions become increasingly complicated. Faculty will come together to discuss ethical questions and implications of communication scholarship. Topics will include the handling of quantitative and qualitative data, the ethics of working with human subjects and other ethical questions that emerge when conducting communication research. Scheduled panelists include: Dr. Ana Garner, Dr. Bob Griffin, Dr. Steve Goldzwig and Dr. Bonnie Brennen   Please join us as we celebrate the scholarship of our faculty and graduate students.
