Frequently Asked Questions
What Will I Be Expected to Do?
You will report, write and tell stories about people and events in the Milwaukee area. You will talk to the people who make news, from entertainers and athletes to politicians and festival promoters. Ready to interview a major league baseball player? Well, there's no time like the present! And if you take pride in your visual skills, you'll get plenty of chances to take photos, create slideshows, podcasts and video.
Staff members of Marquette University and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel work directly with you to help you write, edit and use digital state-of-the-art technologies. You'll also work with other students to publish Urban Voice, the workshop's annual online magazine.
Where Will I Stay?
You'll stay in the Marquette University campus residence halls in downtown Milwaukee. Several Marquette students will live in the halls to assist students and help out with workshop projects. Daily meals will be provided, but if you get a craving for snacks, you might consider bringing a little extra cash.
What Should I Bring?
You'll need to bring sheets, blankets, pillows, fan and toiletries. You might also need an umbrella and rain gear in case it rains during your scheduled interview.
