Dream It. Know It. Sell It.
Dream it. Know it. Sell it. Learn how to combine memorable copy, creative design and
innovative direction to move consumers to action. Build a
foundation in advertising by gaining insights into consumers’
wants and needs, and communicating with them where they like
to be reached, whether it’s at an event, on Facebook, a mobile
device or on a TV show.
Just do it. Train your brain in industry-standard writing techniques.
Work with layout and design programs such as InDesign,
Photoshop, Illustrator and multimedia software. Develop the
flexibility to succeed in the ever-changing world of advertising.
Show your stuff. Pack your portfolio and gain professional experience through class work, club participation and competitions. Our students have
won national recognition for proposals created for companies
such as Toyota, Bank of America, The New York Times, Pizza Hut
and Florida Tourism. Supplement your degree with a Fine Arts
Minor through our partnership with the Milwaukee Institute of
Art and Design (MIAD).
Make the connection. Milwaukee’s thriving ad community includes agencies big and
small—and many of those professionals find their way into our
classrooms, as teachers and guest speakers. What’s more,
internships in Milwaukee, Chicago and across the country can
open the door to full-time employment after graduation.
Go national. Participate in the Advertising Club (affiliated with the American Advertising Federation and the national Business Marketing Association) to get streetwise to what's happening in the dynamic world of advertising.
At the completion of the Advertising major, the graduate is able to:
• Apply the principles of primary and secondary research to ADPR situations.
• Create effective advertising plans using fundamental planning components including situation analysis, market profile, objectives,
strategies and tactics.
• Create effective ads across various media for a targeted audience.
