Learn how to combine memorable copy, creative design and innovative direction to move consumers to action. Build a foundation in advertising by gaining insights into consumers’ wants and needs, and communicating with them where they like to be reached, whether it’s at an event, on Facebook, a mobile device or on a TV show.
Just do it. Train your brain with writing practice in both advertising and PR. Work with layout and design programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and multimedia software. And develop the flexibility you need to succeed in the ever-changing world of advertising.
Show your stuff. Pack your portfolio with samples and gain professional experience through classwork, club participation and competitions. Our students have won national recognition for proposals created for companies such as Toyota, Banc of America Investment Services, The New York Times, Pizza Hut, the Florida Board of Tourism and other clients.
Make the connection. From large national advertising agencies and corporate marketing departments to smaller, specialized ad shops, Marquette advertising majors find an abundance of internships throughout Milwaukee and Chicago, many of which lead to full-time employment after graduation.
Go national. Participate in the Advertising Club (affiliated with the American Advertising Federation and the national Business Marketing Association) to get streetwise to what's happening in the dynamic world of advertising.
