Why Marquette?
As a social issue documentary filmmaker I frequently ask— like Johannes Kepler, “why are things as they are and not otherwise?” Why does poverty still exist in America? Why do we purport to be a society of values but also exhibit intolerance? And why do good people turn a blind eye to problems of environmental degradation? Marquette University is a place where these types of questions are encouraged. It is a university where students come to learn, and to serve. It is truly a place that wants to “be the difference,” and this is why I choose to teach here.

Research Interests
Autobiographical cinema, hybrid film, documentary history, representations of social class in film and TV, environmental communication
